2023 Year End Recap

What a year 2023 was! A strange one as well if I’m being honest! This year we spent a lot of time on development and less time on communicating and marketing. We had some really exciting freelance opportunities come up, and I’m super proud of all the work we’ve done, I can’t wait to share more soon!

What we’ve been working on:
MECHROMANCERS: This game, I have poured so much into this game, and I’m so very excited about what it has become. Lots of recent playtest updates and things, and a new copy has been purchase as of this week so we’ll have a ton of new promo pics, videos, and we’ll even be demoing a little at PAX East!

Ironflight [A Rustlands Adventure]: This game I co-designed with the very awesome Mark Thomas under our “Rustlands Partnership” label. It’s my first full mint tin design and I am so proud of how much game we packed into such a small tin (excluding the playmat, that does not fit in the tin haha)! We’re planning on releasing in early 2024, and at the time of writing this, the game is currently a finalist in The Game Crafter’s Meta-Progression Challenge!

Paper Planes: not a ton of updates here, but we will be releasing a bundle of the original and the Updraft Expansion in early 2024, so now the game will scale play up to 4 players!

[Unannounced] by Looney Labs: I’m not currently able to talk about this project, but I had the opportunity to work with the delightful team at Looney Labs on an upcoming game. I learned so much working with them and really pushed on a lot of cool work, I’m really excited to talk more about it when the time comes. It feels weird to mention it here and not talk about it openly, but it was a big chunk of this last year, and I’m really proud of all that went into it!

Fables of Inkwood: I’ve been working on this game with my brother Sam Streed, and it’s in very early pre-alpha stages, but we’re pretty excited about how it’s shaping up! A very narrative deckbuilding game where you get to tell your character’s unique story at the end!

Where we’d like to improve in 2024:
– Marketing: We honestly don’t spend much time on this outside of previewing upcoming games and updates, I’d love to learn more about how to market effectively, and even get some more reviewers involved!
– Communication: updates on this site have been negligible, I’ll try harder to post more milestones here!
– Community Building: We have a discord! It got sidelined for a little there, and I’d like to build that back up to what it was! We have a lovely little community that I need to spend more time engaging with.

What we’re excited for in 2024
– Ironflight Release – hopefully in February of 2024
– PAX East – in March of 2024

Statistics: not our “booming-est” year, but that makes sense with how we prioritized our time
